Yorkipoo Breed Summary
Affectionate, Loyal, Playful and Alert
A relatively new 'designer' cross breed, the Yorkie-Poo is thought to have been developed over the last ten or twenty years. They were created as a response to 'hoomans' wanting a dog that was more unique than other breeds, possessing distinctive physical characteristics. The Yorkie-Poo is a cross between a Yorkshire Terrier and a Toy Poodle and it's also claimed, although not proven, that cross-breeds are hypo-allergenic and prone to fewer health issues. However, as a new breed, pups will vary from litter to litter with very different physical and mental traits. For example, some may look more Yorkshire Terrier like in physical appearance, whereas others maybe more alert, in likeness to their parent, the Poodle.

Yorkie-Poo's are very affectionate doggies and absolutely love to be around their 'hoomans'. Additionally, they are very lively and playful and love to join in on games, especially with children, who they get on with equally as well. But, they can be a very sassy breed and can develop 'small dog syndrome' if overly-fussed, so you must make sure not to pamper your pooch too much. They absolutely love to be the centre of attention and are extremely happy in everything they do. They love, love, love affection and are very loyal, meaning that they make lovely family pets and have the ability to provide you with years of joy and love!
Yorkipoos are a newer breed, with their histories merely spanning a matter of decades, but such is the case with most designer dogs. They were bred to try and capture the best qualities of the Yorkshire Terrier and the Poodle, and many a proud owner would say that the Yorkiepoo truly captures the best of both worlds. The Yorkipoo's pedigree is rife with intelligence, charisma, and prey drives, giving this relative newcomer a unique combination of DNA from two of the world's most beloved and well-known breeds.
