Chusky Breed Summary
Independent, Hard-Working, Loyal and Affectionate
These dogs can be both medium and large, which is why weights can vary drastically from 18 to nearly 30 kg! They are a cross between a Chow Chow and a Siberian Husky. They are also fairly high maintenance due to the fact that they shed their coats quite heavily.
In terms of their personalities, they can sometimes be fairly stubborn and demanding, therefore they need to be owned by someone who has experience and knowledge of the breed already, as opposed to a first time owner.
Fun Fact: They tend to get on well with other smaller pets!

The Chusky's parents possess traits that the make them fairly hard to handle and potentially very difficult for a first time dog owner. For example, the Siberian Husky's are well-known for being extremely hard-working and loud, whereas the Chow Chows are known for being stubborn and difficult to handle. Combined, their pups can therefore be fairly problematic! Although these personality traits can be toned down through extensive training, they are more suited to owners experienced dealing with difficult and larger dogs. However, they are normally extremely loyal and friendly towards their 'humans'. They even have the potential to get on with other pets in the house and also children!
A relatively new 'designer' cross breed, the Chusky is thought to have been developed over the past ten years. They were created as a response to 'hoomans' wanting a dog that was more unique than other breeds, possessing distinctive physical characteristics. The Chusky is a cross between a Chow Chow and a Siberian Husky and it's also claimed, although not proved, that cross breeds are hypo-allergenic and prone to fewer health issues. However, as a new breed, pups will vary from litter to litter with very different physical and mental traits. For example, some may look more Chow Chow like in physical appearance, whereas others maybe more energetic, in likeness to their parent, the Siberian Husky.
