These teddy bear like puppies haven't been around for that long, but they have quickly developed a reputation as small dogs well suited to family life. They are a cross breed between Shih Tzu and Bichon Frise and this breed is frequently referred to as a 'Designer Dog'.
Because they get along with everyone, there isn't a lifestyle this dog won't fit into. They rarely bark, are hypo-allergenic, love kids and other animals and can be active or laid back (as the situation calls for). Boasting a happy disposition and a passion for playtime, the Zuchon will be a loving companion for many years to come.

Most Zuchons are intelligent, bold, active, and extroverted and need more or less constant companionship. One of these pooches is definitely not a good idea if you expect your pet to fend for itself for extended periods of time.
On the other hand, that very characteristic makes Zuchons ideal as “therapy” dogs and they also make fantastic watchdogs.
Their intelligence does come along with a tiny streak of stubbornness; meaning housetraining can be a bit of a challenge. Therefore, positive training techniques need to be used and they need to be consistent with training lessons. If you're trying to train your Zuchon, stay away from physical or other harsh training methods as they won't work.
Despite its housetraining challenges, the Zuchon breed is relatively low maintenance which makes them the ideal companion for somebody living alone. The Zuchon also fits quite nicely into a family setting. They will not eat you out of house and home and while they do require their daily brushing, many find that the ritual is a great time for quiet contemplation; both human and animal seem to be the better for it.
This relatively new breed of dog originated in the United States. A mix of Shih Tzu and Bichon Frise, the Zuchon is rapidly gaining popularity in households across North America and the UK.
