The Lowchens history is essentially a mystery to all but it is thought that they were developed in Europe and may be connected historically to the Bichon Frise! Although they are listed as being a breed native to France, there were very similar looking pooches in Spain and Germany, that dated back to the 1500s! Up until fairly recently, they were an unheard breed in the UK, but once they were introduced in the 60s they grew greatly in popularity.
