Chow Shepherd Breed Summary
Dominating, Protective, Loyal and Energetic
Chow Shepherds are a cross between a Chow Chow and a German Shepherd! They come in a variety of coat colours, including sable, black and brown and are normally medium to large in size as well! However, they are very high maintenance doggies as they shed their coats a lot and will need lots of grooming.
In terms of their temperaments, they are fairly playful, which makes them fun to be around! However, they are also incredibly protective over their families. These doggies are best suited to living in a larger house, where they have plenty of space to run around.
Fun Fact: They are very intelligent which is great if you want to teach your doggy some tricks!

These fluffy guys are known to have fairly dominating attitudes and for this reason won't do well in a house with young children and small pets, they do not go hand-in-hand! They normally make fantastic watchdogs, as they are wary of strangers and very protective over their families. Their parent, the Chow Chow, is difficult to train, which can pass on to the Chow Shepherd, so its important they are trained as young as possible to avoid any further issues! They also need to be based in an active family due to their high energy levels and need a family who can challenge them everyday! However, they make lovely family pets and have the potential to provide you with years of happiness.
A relatively new 'designer' cross breed, the Chow Shepherd is thought to have been developed over the last ten or twenty years. They were created as a response to 'hoomans' wanting a dog that was more unique than other breeds, possessing distinctive physical characteristics. The Chow Shepherd is a cross between a Chow Chow and a German Shepherd and it's also claimed, although not proved, that cross breeds are hypo-allergenic and prone to fewer health issues. However, as a new breed, pups will vary from litter to litter with very different physical and mental traits. For example, some may look more Chow Chow like in physical appearance, whereas others maybe more 'watchdog-like', in likeness to their parent, the German Shepherd.
