Sprocker Breed Summary
Energetic, Intelligent, Calm, Mischievous and Affectionate
Sprockers are a cross between Springer and Cocker Spaniels, however, they are not designer dogs like other recent crosses but were bred as working dogs instead! Additionally, they also make wonderful family pets both here in the UK and in other parts of the world as well.
Unfortunately, they are not yet recognised by the Kennel Club, but the traits that they have inherited from their parent breeds mean that they have wonderful temperaments and very loving personalities!
Fun Fact: Sprockers were developed both by accident and on purpose by Gamekeepers wanting a reliable and loyal gundog!

Although fantastic gun dogs, Sprockers also make great companions in the family home. They are an extremely relaxed breed and take life as it comes at them. They are also highly intelligent and thus fairly easy to train. Intelligence paired with energy makes these doggies fierce competitors, and they can often be seen in agility and obedience contests. These guys form life-long bonds with their ‘hooman’ families, in similarity to their Spaniel cousins and love to be around people, no matter what they are doing! They also have a great sense of humour, getting up to all sorts of mischief (usually right under your nose...). For those that have the time and energy for these doggies, you’re sure to have years and years filled with happiness and joy.
The Sprocker, created in 1997, is a relatively new hybrid-breed and is a cross between a Springer and a Cocker Spaniel. However, the Spaniel goes back much further and can be traced back to the 1600’s in Spain! It’s thought that this breed was generated to create a dog that was both hardworking and capable of working over harsh terrain, although little is actually known how this new breed came about. However, it’s parents are said to be two of the oldest gundogs native to the UK. They are not ‘designer dogs’ nor are they really a cross breed, as both of their parents are Spaniels. But regardless of this, they make fantastic family pets.
