Pitsky Breed Summary

Energetic, Intelligent, Stubborn, Powerful and Affectionate

Pitskys are a relatively new hybrid breed and are a cross between an American Pit Bull Terrier and a Husky! Because of the parents breed personalities, these dogs are often very free-spirited and powerful, which can sometimes be a difficult mix as it can lead to them become fairly aggressive without the relevant training. For this reason, they need someone who will be devoted to training them from a young age.

They are however a very trustworthy and devoted dog who love nothing more than being around their hoomans to get all the love that they can!

These dogs are known for being extremely energetic. For this reason, they would better suit a family that already lead an active lifestyle that they can easily slot into. They are highly intelligent and as long as you fight through their stubbornness, training is normally a relatively easy task. They get on really well with all types of hoomans, including children, as long as they are properly socialized. However, their size and strength mean they are very powerful and often don't know their own strength, so they may not be best for a family with small children. Both of the parent breeds can sometimes act aggressively towards other dogs and have strong prey drives, so they may not be best for a family that have other small animals or dogs.

A relatively new designer cross breed, the Pitsky is thought to have been developed over the last ten or twenty years. They were created as a response to hoomans wanting a dog that was more unique than other breeds, possessing distinctive physical characteristics. The Pitsky is a cross between an American Pitbull and an Alaskan Husky and it's also claimed, although not proven, that these cross breeds are hypo-allergenic and prone to fewer health issues. However, as a new breed, pups will vary from litter to litter with very different physical and mental traits. For example, some may look more Pitbull-like in physical appearance, whereas others maybe more energetic, in likeness to their parent, the Alaskan Husky.
