Jackshunds are bred from two very different but equally fun dog breeds. The combination of these breeds is a medium sized dog with a big personality. They are fun and affectionate, but also energetic and stubborn. They are best suited to owners with previous canine experience but make great family pets. This breed is well behaved around children and other animals but needs to be properly socialized. The overall maintenance of the breed can vary since there are a number of possible coat textures available to this designer breed. Despite their enthusiastic nature, they do not need too much exercise and can be well suited to people of all lifestyles.

This adorable pooch has a loving personality and overall are happy and alert but can sometimes be stubborn. This breed is loving and quite social which means that they will get very attached to their owners, although they can be suspicious of strangers. Because of this, they may not like to be left alone for long periods of time. They make great family pets and will be excellent around kids, especially when well socialized. The same goes for dogs and other household pets - they are well behaved when properly introduced. However, these dogs may have a high prey drive and could chase after small animals.
They have a high tendency to roam and should have a yard with a fence. They can do well in apartments as long as they get the proper amount of exercise daily. The Jackshund breed are fairly suitable for owners who are new to owning a dog but would probably do best with someone who is experienced. Despite their stubborn nature, they are moderately easy to train.
The Jackshund is a newly made mix of the Jack Russell Terrier and the Dachshund, which are both excellent dogs on their own. This modern trend of creating designer dogs has become more popular within the past 20 or so years and has been the source of many new dog breeds. However, the exact origins of the Jackshund are still unknown.
