Golden Labrador Breed Summary

Active, Energetic, Playful, Intelligent and Loving

These dogs are a relatively new hybrid breed and are a cross between a Golden and a Labrador Retriever. Unfortunately, they are not as popular as other breeds but they do make excellent working dogs, in the fields of rescue, guide, bomb detection and therapy dogs!

Additionally, they are a very playful breed and do not mature until a lot later than other breeds at around two years old. Although this makes training a little more difficult, but they are excellent with younger children and they really thrive within the family homes!

Other Names Goldador

Like their parents, the Goldador’s are extremely loving and devoted dogs and absolutely love being around other beings – whether that be dogs, children, stranger and especially their ‘hooman’ family! They also extremely intelligent dogs, combined with their love to please, they are very easy to train and teach new skills and tricks. Because they love us so much, it’s best that they aren’t secluded in a garden by themselves. They will do best in a house with a family who can give them plenty of love, playtime and walks! So that they can grow and become well-rounded you will need to socialize your playful pup from a young age.

These adorable dogs are very new on the block! Goldador's are thought to have been developed no more than a decade ago and are a cross between the Labrador Retriever and a Golden Retriever. It was hoped to create a new cross-breed that had the best traits from both the parents; including excellent temperament and also a good working dog, which they have been successful in achieving! Because of the traits they have inherited, they can often be seen working as assistant and guide dogs as well. They have not yet become a popular ‘designer dog’ as compared to their other cousins the Labradoodles, but it’s hoped over time they will be a household favorite.
